Suspect barricades with hostage in San Jose standoff

Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies are at the scene of a hostage situation with a barricaded suspect in the Alum Rock area near San Jose on Tuesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office wrote on Twitter shortly after 7 a.m. about their response to the 3000 block of East Hills Drive.

Hostage negotiators are currently trying to make contact with the suspect, officials said at 9:39 a.m.

People are asked to avoid the area, and sheriff’s officials did not release any other details about the suspect or hostage situation.
