Motorcyclist dies, driver in custody after Marina District collision

A 40-year-old motorcyclist died in a collision with a late Monday night in the Marina District, San Francisco police said.

Officers arrived at the intersection of Francisco Street and Richardson Avenue approximately at 11:43 p.m. and located the male victim in the roadway. He was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries, authorities said.

Police said the person driving the vehicle was a 35-year-old male, who remained at the scene. Officers suspected the driver was impaired and conducted a DUI investigation.

The driver was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.

While an arrest was made, police said the case is still open and asked that anyone with information call SFPD’s tip line at (415) 575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin the text message with SFPD. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
