Earthquakes strike near Oakland Zoo

Four small earthquakes struck near the Oakland-San Leandro border over the past 24 hours, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The strongest quake, a magnitude 3.4, hit shortly after noon Saturday in the area of the Oakland Zoo, about 2 miles north of San Leandro at a depth a 3.7 miles. Another magnitude 3.0 earthquake with a depth of 4.1 miles struck nearby at 98th Avenue and Lawlor Street around 7:15 Friday evening.  

Two much smaller quakes struck in the same vicinity around 7:16 a.m. and 1:34 p.m. Saturday, recorded at magnitudes 1.3 and 1.5, respectively. 

No injuries or damage have been reported.
