Vallejo police announce suspect arrest in July slaying of 15-year-old boy

Vallejo police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a 28-year-old Richmond man on suspicion of the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy in July.

The suspect was arrested around 5 p.m. Friday outside of an apartment complex in Las Vegas with the help of a U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force. He is awaiting extradition back to Solano County, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 5:52 p.m. on July 14 in the 200 block of Maine Street, where arriving officers found the teenage victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His name has not been released.

Vallejo police identified the man as the suspect and, a week after the shooting, asked for the public’s help in finding and arresting him.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Brian Murphy at (707) 648-5430.
