A Marin County Jail inmate died after being found slumped over in his cell on Monday night, county sheriff’s officials said.
A deputy and nurse were making their rounds to give medications to inmates at about 8:35 p.m. when they saw the man slumped over in a cell that he did not share with anyone else. They attempted life-saving measures but the inmate was pronounced dead at about 9:15 p.m.
The man’s name is not yet being released, and the Sheriff’s Office requested San Rafael police to handle the investigation into his death. The Sonoma County coroner’s office will handle coroner’s duties related to the case.
