Magnitude 2.5 Cobb Mountain quake strongest of two dozen in 24 hours

A small earthquake was felt in Sonoma and Lake counties Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The 2.5 magnitude quake, centered along Cobb Mountain about 3 miles northwest of The Geysers, struck at 4:22 p.m Saturday. 

USGS Two dozen earthquakes strike in the Cobb Mountain area near the border between Lake and Sonoma counties, Calif. in the 24-hour period prior to approximately noon Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021.

According to the USGS, two dozen small earthquakes within approximately 5 miles of the epicenter have been recorded in the past 24 hours, with the latest 1.4 magnitude tremor hitting shortly after noon Sunday.  

There have been no reports of injuries or damage.
