Sonoma County lieutenant dies from Covid-19 complications

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday the death of a correctional lieutenant due to complications from Covid-19.

Lt. Bobby Travelstead died at a hospital Wednesday, the Sheriff’s Office wrote on social media.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Travelstead started with the Sheriff’s Office in 2007, working in several roles in its Detention Division, and was promoted to lieutenant in 2019, sheriff’s officials said.

He is survived by his two daughters.

The Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook:

“Bobby’s personality and sincerity made him a well-liked co-worker and respected leader. … Rest in Peace, Bobby. We got it from here.”


Editor’s Note: The county issued a health order effective Sept. 1 mandating all employers of law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services and temporary disaster shelters require employees to prove vaccination status or submit to weekly testing.
