A 16-year-old boy died in a shooting in San Francisco’s Portola District early Tuesday morning, police said.
Officers responded shortly after 12:50 a.m. to the shooting and were flagged down at a gas station at Silver and San Bruno avenues, where they found the teen with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his name is not yet being released.
Investigators determined that the boy and other people were inside a vehicle at the time of the shooting. San Francisco police on Tuesday morning had said the shooting was believed to take place on Olmstead Street, but said later in the day that the exact location of the shooting remains under investigation.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the SFPD tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
