Vehicle passenger dies in collision with train

A train struck and killed at least one person in Oakley near Cypress Road Wednesday afternoon, city officials said.

The city of Oakley wrote on Twitter that a vehicle traveling west collided with the train shortly before 1 p.m. A passenger in the vehicle died at the scene and the driver was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Oakley police are asking people to avoid the area during the investigation into the collision.
