Hit-and-run driver kills pedestrian in East San Jose

A hit-and-run traffic collision in East San Jose killed a man early Sunday in the area of Rigoletto Drive and Brahms Avenue, according to a San Jose Police Department statement issued at 9 a.m.

Police said the suspect vehicle, believed to a 2006-2008 Acura TSX four-door sedan, was traveling westbound on Rigoletto Drive when it struck the man walking across the street, outside of a marked crosswalk. The driver immediately fled the scene. 

The victim was declared dead at collision site; his identity is being confirmed by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office and will be released after next of kin is notified.  

This marks the city’s 40th fatal traffic collision and 17th pedestrian death this year.
