Crews mop up after Walnut Creek house fire

Firefighters are at the scene Monday morning of a house fire in Walnut Creek.

Residents of the one-story home, in the first block of Edmund Court, have been evacuated, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

The single-alarm blaze was reported at 8:22 a.m. and when firefighters arrived, half the home was already engulfed in flames, a Con Fire spokesman said.

No injuries have been reported. Five fire engines and 3 trucks responded to the fire.

Residents are asked to avoid the area, a neighborhood located near Walnut Boulevard and Sierra Drive.
