San Francisco police are seeking the public's help to identify the SUV involved in a hit-and-run crash in San Francisco, Calif., on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
San Francisco police are seeking suspects in two separate hit-and-run collisions last month with one incident resulting in a fatality.
The most recent hit-and-run crash occurred last Thursday when officers were patrolling the area of Treasure Island and Macalla roads and saw a male victim down in the roadway.
Officers summoned medics to the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 54-year-old William Hurt.
Police said that based on evidence gathered at the scene, investigators believe the suspect may have been driving a 2012 to 2016 Chevrolet Impala and would likely have front-end damage to the vehicle.
The second hit-and-run crash happened on July 18 at Polk Street and Golden Gate Avenue.
Medics from the Fire Department located a 58-year-old male victim in the roadway and transported him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the victim has recovered.
Investigators said they believe the driver stopped after hitting the victim, got out of the car, looked at the victim, then got back into the car and drove away.
Police described the vehicle as a “light-colored” SUV and continue to search for the suspect who they believe is a male in his 20s with dreadlock hair. An unidentified female passenger was also in the vehicle at the time of the hit-and-run, police said.
Police released surveillance photos of the suspect and vehicle.
