Magnitude 4.0 earthquake hits near San Lorenzo

A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck near Ashland Monday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was reported at 6:29 p.m. just shy of 1.9 miles north of San Lorenzo. The epicenter was located near Van Avenue and Foothill Drive at a depth of approximately 6.5 miles.

According to social media, several residents felt the tremor throughout the Bay Area. There are no preliminary reports of injuries or damage, though this story may be updated if additional information becomes available.
