Eighteen-year-old Antioch woman dies after overturn ejection crash

An 18-year-old woman was killed in a crash on state Highway 4 in Antioch on Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Contra Costa County coroner’s office has identified Antioch resident Brianna Espinoza as the woman who died in the crash reported at 10:17 a.m. Wednesday on eastbound Highway 4 just west of Somersville Road.

CHP officers arrived and found a 2000 Toyota Tundra truck had crashed and overturned, ejecting Espinoza, who was not wearing a seatbelt. She was taken to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries there.

On Wednesday evening, the CHP wrote on Twitter:

“This crash was a tragic loss of a young life that will never be fulfilled. Please always wear your seatbelt at all times when in a vehicle.”

Anyone with more information about the crash or the events leading up to it is asked to call the CHP’s Contra Costa-area office at (925) 646-4980.
