Update: Tracy police say ACE train struck construction worker, not street sweeper

A San Jose-bound Altamont Corridor Express train struck and killed a construction worker Wednesday morning in Tracy.

ACE officials reported shortly after 7:20 a.m. that train 05 from Stockton to San Jose stopped just before the Tracy station as a result of the collision.

According to Tracy police, the train hit a construction company vehicle that was doing work on Linne Road between MacArthur Drive and Tracy Boulevard. Brian Schmidt with ACE had earlier said the collision involved a street sweeper.

Authorities said the individual killed has not yet been identified.

After approximately two hours, ACE 05, the train involved in the collision, was released from the scene and has continued toward destination in San Jose.

ACE will continue running full service Wednesday evening with three trains running from San Jose to Stockton.
