Driver kills pedestrian in South San Jose collision

A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian in South San Jose on Thursday night, police said.

Officers responded at 9:26 p.m. to the collision reported in the area of Capitol Expressway and Seven Trees Boulevard.

Investigators determined a man was walking west across the street outside of a marked crosswalk when a blue 2011 Jeep Cherokee hit him. He was taken to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries there, according to police.

The Jeep driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The pedestrian’s name has not immediately been released.

The fatal collision is the 19th on San Jose city streets in 2021. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective O’Brien at (408) 277-4654.
