Crews respond to brush fire, downed power lines near Highway 101

A brush fire and downed power lines due to a blown transformer were reported Friday morning in San Rafael near U.S. Highway 101, police said.

San Rafael police issued an advisory shortly after 7:50 a.m. about the fire in the area of Marin Center Drive and Redwood Highway.

Police, firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers have responded and are advising people to avoid the area.
