Second fire breaks out at Concord church in less than one week

Fire officials on Monday morning are investigating the second fire in less than a week at a Concord church.

The blaze was reported shortly after midnight at Christ Community Church of the Nazarene, 1650 Ashbury Drive, near Clayton Road and Galindo Street.

No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation, a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman said.

The previous blaze on May 13 caused the church’s roof to collapse and the second floor to fall onto the first. The two-alarm fire originated from a crawlspace and was caused by human activity, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported in the first fire.
