San Francisco police reported an officer-involved shooting Friday afternoon. According to department tweet, the shooting occurred at approximately 12:48 p.m. at Varney Place near 3rd Street.

The location is in the Jack London Alley vicinity about two blocks from Oracle Park.

Residents were earlier asked to avoid the South Beach neighborhood area due to police activity, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management said Friday afternoon.

Police have not yet disclosed the nature of the incident or extent of injuries, saying they provide updates as more details come available.
