Two suspects in custody in connection with Lil Yase murder

Two people have been arrested for the slaying last year in Dublin of up-and-coming rapper Lil Yase, police said Wednesday.

Angel Butler and Jovante Williams, both 28, were arrested Tuesday afternoon at an apartment complex where they live in the 5100 block of Iron Horse Parkway in Dublin near the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station.

That’s also where the shooting occurred Nov. 28, killing the rapper whose real name was Mark Antonyyo Alexander Jr., according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau. Lil Yase was identified by Dublin police last year as Alexander Mark Antonyyo Jr.

Police said that Alexander suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken around 1 a.m. that morning to ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton. He was transferred to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where he died.

Alexander was a 26-year-old San Francisco resident, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau. Police said Alexander had an ongoing relationship with Butler, who lived with and had a child with Williams.

Both suspects are being held without bail in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. They are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at the East County Hall of Justice.
