System brings scattered showers through Sunday evening

The Bay Area on Sunday morning is waking up to its first substantial rain in more than a month, with drizzle reported in several locations as of 9:30 a.m., forecasters said.

The system will deliver rain through mid-afternoon and most areas will see one-quarter inch or less. The last time substantial rain was reported in the region was March 18-19, the National Weather Service said.

There is a low chance of thunderstorms and no lightning has been detected yet.

The scattered showers may occur through early evening. The system will clear out overnight and sunny skies are forecast for Monday. A warming trend is forecast to begin Tuesday with inland highs reaching low 80s.
