Magnitude 4.0 earthquake strikes near Anderson Springs

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.0 earthquake in the Anderson Springs area of Sonoma County just before noon Monday.

The magnitude was originally reported as a 4.2 but was later downgraded by USGS.

U.S. Geological Survey People in Fairfield, Marin and San Francisco reported feeling the 4.0 magnitude earthquake that struck near Anderson Springs in Sonoma County on Monday, April 19, 2021.

The quake struck about 1.9 miles southwest of Anderson Springs.

Sonoma County has seen substantial seismic activity in the past 24 hours, with 58 earthquakes of varying magnitudes hitting in the approximate 10-mile stretch between Anderson Springs and Cobb. The impacted area includes The Geysers.

U.S. Geological Survey More than 50 earthquakes of varying magnitudes strike the 10-mile area between Anderson Springs and Cobb, Calif. in the 24-hour period between approximately noon on Sunday, April 18 and Monday, April 19, 2021.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
