Coroner’s jury reaches findings in two 2019 Contra Costa County deaths

A coroner’s jury reached findings in two 2019 Contra Costa County deaths, Sheriff-Coroner David Livingston announced Friday.

The death of Omar Jalal Harb, 21, of Brentwood on July 18, 2019 was ruled an accident.

In a second finding, the Oct. 16, 2019 death of Enrique Camberos Pina, 72, of Walnut Creek was ruled a suicide.

According to a statement issued by Director of Public Affairs Jimmy Lee, Harb died during a police pursuit when he crashed a stolen SUV into a tree. Pina died while in custody at the West County Detention Facility in Richmond.

The coroner’s jury reached verdicts in both inquests after hearing the testimony of witnesses called by the hearing officer, Matthew Guichard. Inquests, which are public, are convened in the case of fatal incidents involving police officers.
