Reckless driver leads Santa Rosa police on pursuit before arrest

A 32-year-old San Francisco woman was arrested Sunday in Santa Rosa after allegedly hitting multiple parked cars with her vehicle and then leading police on a pursuit.

Officers responded at 7:54 p.m. to the area of Olive Street on a report of a vehicle that was being driven recklessly and struck several cars parked there.

A sergeant with another law enforcement agency first spotted the suspect vehicle, driven by someone later identified as Kelly Ikeguchi, who did not yield to the sergeant’s attempt to pull her over, police said.

A short pursuit ensued and Santa Rosa police joined to try to stop her again in the area of Steele Lane and Service Court, but Ikeguchi began driving away again before an officer used a pursuit intervention technique that temporarily disabled the vehicle, according to police.

Ikeguchi continued trying to drive east on Steele Lane but the vehicle apparently became disabled near Mendocino Avenue. She revved the engine in an apparent attempt to keep driving, but the vehicle did not move and she eventually came out of the vehicle after extensive negotiations, police said.

Ikeguchi was taken to a hospital for examination and tried again to escape there, but was later booked into county jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, hit-and-run, evading a police officer, and obstructing or delaying a peace officer.
