A man was arrested Thursday in connection with several crimes including assaulting an officer in Orinda.
Delvente Murry, 28, of San Francisco, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, felony evading, obstructing a peace officer and probation violation.
On Monday at 4:13 p.m., an officer with the Orinda Police Department was conducting a walkthrough of a drugstore on Orinda Way when employees alerted the officer a man was fleeing the store after stealing items.
The officer chased the man on foot and tried to apprehend him when the man got into a vehicle in the parking lot and struck the officer with the vehicle as he was driving away.
The officer suffered minor injuries during the incident.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Murry, and on Thursday, he was spotted in Richmond.
The suspect fled from deputies with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and led them on a vehicle pursuit on westbound Interstate Highway 80.
The vehicle pursuit ended when the vehicle became disabled on Adeline Street in Berkeley, and Murry was taken into custody by deputies following a foot pursuit.
