CHP reports fatality after vehicle crashes down Sunol ravine

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash Saturday near Sunol, after a vehicle went down a steep ravine.

The crash was reported about 10:30 a.m. on Calaveras Road near Welch Creek Road, in an unincorporated area of Alameda County near the Sunol Regional Wilderness Preserve.

The coroner is at the scene of the wreck, the CHP said, but no other information was immediately available.
