Visitacion Valley victim takes self to hospital with gunshot wound

A shooting in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood on Saturday afternoon sent a person to the hospital, according to police.

Officers responded around 3:45 p.m. to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system activation in the area of Sunnydale Avenue and Hahn Street and arrived to find shell casings, then were notified that a victim had walked into San Francisco General Hospital with a gunshot wound, police said.

The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, and police did not immediately release any other information about the shooting.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
