A magnitude 3.8 earthquake struck at 5:38 p.m. Sunday 5.5 miles east-northeast of Gilroy and 11.2 miles east-southeast of Morgan Hill, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake had a depth of about 4.29 miles. According to the USGS, there were no notable earthquakes leading up to the event or any aftershocks recorded within the hour after.
