Caltrans to shut down portion of Highway 101 over weekend

Caltrans will be implementing a full closure of U.S. Highway 101 this weekend in Palo Alto for construction related to a pedestrian and bicycle overcrossing.

The northbound and southbound sides of the highway will begin closing between San Antonio and Embarcadero roads from Saturday night into early Sunday. Caltrans crews will start reducing lanes at 8 p.m. Saturday, with the full closure scheduled Sunday from 1:30 a.m. to 6 a.m.

The closures are needed for crews to safely erect a steel structure for a pedestrian/bike path overcrossing. Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute. All work is weather dependent.

The overcrossing at Adobe Creek will replace the existing seasonal Benjamin Lefkowitz Underpass that has to close seasonally due to flooding. For more information about the overcrossing project, people can visit https://www.cityofpaloalto.org/101.
