A 28-year-old Fremont man was arrested and booked Tuesday on suspicion of cutting off the thumb of a roommate during an altercation along with other crimes, Fremont police said.
Officers responding to the 34000 block of Blackstone Way on Jan. 26 learned the victim’s thumb had been severed with an unknown object during the fight. The victim was given medical help by the Fremont Fire Department, which took him and his thumb to the hospital. The victim’s injuries were not considered life-threatening and doctors reattached the thumb.
A felony warrant for mayhem and probation violations was obtained by detectives for William Robinson of Fremont.
Police said another investigation of Robinson had recently been concluded after he “rammed his car into a witness vehicle after stealing from Walmart on Osgood Road” on June 18, 2020, and that a second warrant was also obtained.
He was located and arrested Tuesday by undercover detectives at the EZ8 Motel in Newark, interviewed by detectives and taken to Santa Rita Jail, police said.
Police said Robinson has a long history of violence-, weapons- and theft-related arrests.
