Bullet strikes woman’s leg in afternoon Bayview shooting

A 35-year-old woman was shot in the leg in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The shooting was reported around 4 p.m. in the 600 block of Gilman Avenue.

The victim reporting hearing gunfire, then feeling a shot in her leg. She was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries, which are not life-threatening, police said.

Officers found a spent shell casing in the area but have not made an arrest in the shooting or released any suspect information. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
