Man in custody for allegedly killing wife, 11-year-old daughter

A Sunnyvale man was arrested this week for allegedly killing his wife and 11-year-old daughter, the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said Thursday.

Officers responded around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to the lobby of the Sunnyvale DPS headquarters, where Leonid Solomonovich Yamburg, 51, allegedly told a records clerk he killed his wife.

Sunnyvale DPS officers then traveled to Yamburg’s residence on the 900 block of West Homestead Road and found the bodies of his wife, Svetlana Nikitana, and daughter.

Yamburg was subsequently arrested in connection with their deaths, according to the Sunnyvale DPS. The cause of their deaths remains under investigation.
