Smoke billowed early Wednesday morning in San Leandro from a fire near Interstate Highways 238 and 880, Alameda County fire officials said.
The outside fire was reported at 4:41 a.m. between Sweetwater Drive and Highway 238 and took about two hours to put out.
At 4:41am, BC4, E13, E22, & T12 were dispatched to an outside fire between Sweetwater Dr and 238 in @CitySanLeandro. The fire created a large amount of smoke and took more than 2 hours to extinguish requiring assistance from @caltransdistrict4 using their front loader. #ALCOFIRE pic.twitter.com/CArQDd7OTV

A Caltrans crew used a front loader to help extinguish the blaze, fire officials said.
