A significant rainstorm is due in the Bay Area by Wednesday.
Periods of light to moderate rain are forecast in the San Francisco Bay Area Monday, before drier conditions return Tuesday according to the National Weather Service.
Heavier rainfall was seen in late Monday morning along the peninsula and in North Bay high elevation areas. The weather service raised concerns for the highest peak points in burn scar areas during brief periods of heavy rain, urging residents to stay alert.
Overcast and rainy skies accompany daytime highs in the mid to upper 50s throughout the region. At higher elevations, south-southeasterly wind gusts of more than 60 mph are expected to accompany the stormy cold front. A high surf advisory is in effect through 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Chances of rain will subside Monday night, as overnight lows reach the mid 40s in San Francisco, the upper 30s in San Jose and Walnut Creek areas, and the low 30s in Sonoma’s region.
As dry weather is forecast for Tuesday, active weather patterns continue throughout the week and will bring more rain Wednesday and Friday.
