Licensed nurse faces child pornography possession charges

A licensed nurse has been charged in a child pornography case, United States Attorney David Anderson announced Thursday.

Shawn Jamison Prichard, 41, of Antioch, is accused of possessing at least one image of child pornography involving the use of a prepubescent minor engaged in sexually explicit content, according to a complaint filed on Tuesday.

Prichard is a licensed nurse in California.

The investigation into Prichard started after law enforcement received a tip from a social media company that was based on the defendant’s use of a messaging service to send images of child pornography, prosecutors said.

Prichard faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, 20 years if the images depict pre-pubescent children, and a fine of $250,000 plus restitution.
