Police in Santa Rosa on Friday night arrested a man wanted in connection with several warrants following an hours-long standoff.
On Friday at 8:19 p.m., officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department located a suspect wanted on four outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
The suspect, Bruce Discher, 50, of Santa Rosa, was also identified as a suspect in a criminal threats investigation and was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen, police said.
He was located in the area of Sebastopol Road and Stony Point Road.
When an officer tried to contact Discher, he barricaded himself inside his vehicle, refused to exit and threatened to shoot officers, police said.
Discher remained in the vehicle for more than three hours, and the police department’s hostage negotiation and SWAT teams responded to the scene.
At around 11:57 p.m., officers used chemical agents, less-lethal foam rounds and assistance from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit to apprehend Discher, and he was taken into custody.
Discher was transported to the hospital for injuries suffered during his apprehension, and he was later taken to jail.
In addition to the outstanding warrants, Discher was arrested on suspicion of felony obstruction of a police officer, criminal threats and vehicle theft.
