Two collisions minutes apart kill pedestrian, critically injure another

Police are investigating two separate collisions that happened Tuesday in San Francisco and occurred just minutes apart, killing one victim and leaving another with critical injuries.

According to police, officers responded to the first collision around 7 p.m. at the corner of Geary Boulevard and 38th Avenue, in the city’s Richmond District.

There, a sedan being driven by a 51-year-old man struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a 68-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver cooperated with the investigation and was not arrested. The city’s medical examiner’s office is working to identify the victim.

The second collision on Tuesday happened around 7:20 p.m. near 16th and Bryant streets, in the city’s Mission District.

According to police, a sedan being two driven by a man and woman struck a pedestrian as the pedestrian was in the intersection. The sedan, however, fled the scene.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The suspects whose vehicle struck the victim were described as a woman in her 30s and a man in his 40s.
