San Francisco Sheriff's Deputy Linton E. Martin Sr., 56, died Tuesday, December 1, 2020 after a sudden collapse while working at County Jail 3 in San Bruno, Calif.
The San Francisco Sheriff’s Office is mourning a deputy who died Tuesday while on duty a city jail after collapsing suddenly.
Deputy Linton E. Martin Sr., 56, collapsed at County Jail 3 in San Bruno during the evening hours and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to sheriff’s officials.
Sheriff Paul Miyamoto said in a statement:
“Deputy Martin was a beloved member of CJ #3’s midnight watch, endearing himself to his colleagues with his infectious laugh, positive attitude and memorable pancake breakfast.”
Miyamoto added:
“We will miss his distinctive deep voice, which announced his presence wherever he went.”
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Martin was a San Francisco native and had previously served in the Navy. He first began his career with the Sheriff’s Office back in 2001 and began serving at the jail in San Bruno in 2005.
He’s survived by his wife and several children, one of whom currently serves as a San Francisco sheriff’s deputy.
