Chief vows to ‘tenaciously pursue justice’ in shooting death of 24-year-old woman

Investigators are looking into the Sunday shooting death of a 24-year-old woman, according to Vallejo police officials.

The woman, whom policed referred to as a transient, was found dead at about 9:40 p.m. on Derr Street, just south of Lemon Street, police said.

Vallejo Police Chief Shawny Williams said:

“Our unhoused population deserves our deepest compassion, service and protection. We will tenaciously pursue justice in this case.”

This is the city’s twenty-fifth homicide of 2020, according to police.

The woman’s name is being withheld by police pending notification of her family.
