Overnight violence in Bay Area leaves six dead, six injured

Friday night and early Saturday morning shook the cities of San Francisco, San Jose and Richmond with four separate shootings and a stabbing incident that killed six people in total and left another six injured.

SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco police said late Friday evening that two separate shootings have left two people dead and three others injured.

The first shooting occurred in the 300 block of Hunters Point Boulevard at about 8 p.m. Police arrived to reports of a shooting and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, who appeared to be between 45 and 50 years of age, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Later, just before 9 p.m., several people were shot in the 200 block of Schwerin Street. When officers arrived on scene, they found a man fatally shot. Three other shooting victims were at the scene.

The victims, two women ages 63 and 34 and a 46-year-old man, were taken to a hospital for treatment.

There are no further details at this time.

RICHMOND

Police in Richmond are investigating a shooting that left one person dead Friday night.

On Friday at 6:51 p.m., officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 900 block of 9th Street.

Responding officers located Joe Frank Walker III, 44, of Richmond, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The police department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting, and detectives are investigating the possibility an argument led to the shooting.

SAN JOSE

Police in San Jose are investigating a shooting that left two people dead and three people injured Saturday morning.

The San Jose Police Department first reported the incident Saturday at 3:57 a.m.

The shooting occurred at the Nuevo Vallarta Restaurant in the 100 block of S. Capitol Avenue, according to police.

Police said the two victims who were killed were men, and the three other victims suffered injuries that were not life threatening.


San Jose police are also investigating a stabbing incident that left one person dead Saturday morning.

Officers with the SJPD responded shortly before 4 a.m. to a report of a stabbing in the area of Coyote Road and Delridge Drive.

Police said a man was transported to the hospital and ultimately died from his injury.

Police said there is a large crime scene, and several surrounding residential streets will be closed for several hours while investigators process the scene.
