Medical examiner identifies motorcyclist found dead near Panhandle

A male motorcyclist found dead near the Panhandle early Wednesday morning has been identified by the San Francisco medical examiner’s office as 42-year-old as Jeffrey Larry.

Officer Tiffany Hang told SFBay Wednesday that officers responded at 4:18 a.m. to the intersection of Hayes Street and Masonic Avenue of a report of a motorcyclist down in the roadway.

Officers arrived at the scene and found the victim in the roadway where Larry, a San Francisco resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Tang said the cause of the collision is under investigation.

Authorities are asking the public to call the Police Department using the SFPD 24-Hour Tip Line at (415) 575-4444 or Text a Tip to TIP411 and begin text messages with SFPD.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Board of Directors will receive a progress report Tuesday on The City’s Vision Zero goal, which aims to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2024. A staff presentation is available online.

A total of 19 traffic fatalities have been reported so far this year, according to data through the end of September.
