AC Transit looks back fondly over six decades of service

In celebrating its 60 years in operation, Alameda-Contra Costa Transit is hosting a virtual promotional event this month, offering retro items to riders in exchange for sharing fond memories of the transit agency.

On Oct. 1, 1960, AC Transit acquired the privately held Key System transit agency, and became the first public transit agency in the East Bay.

With more than 5,000 bus stops and a fleet of more than 670 buses, AC Transit delivers over 53 million rides per year, according to the agency.

To celebrate its diamond anniversary, AC Transit is asking riders to share their fond memories and stories of AC Transit. Select submissions will be shared by AC Transit, and their authors will have the chance to receive retro items as gifts from the agency.
