Man suffers possible spinal cord injury in Bethel Island shooting

A man was shot in the neck Thursday afternoon on Bethel Island in unincorporated Contra Costa County, fire officials said.

The shooting was reported at 4:13 p.m. on Riverview Place. The victim may have suffered a spinal cord injury and was flown to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, according to fire officials.

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the circumstances of the shooting.
