Berkeley woman suffers ‘significant’ injuries in armed intruder attack

A Berkeley woman suffered significant injuries early Sunday morning when she was attacked by an armed man who entered her apartment, police said.

Poice were notified around 12:45 a.m. after neighbors heard a woman screaming in the 2400 block of Warring Street.

The woman told officers she was attacked by a man who threatened her with a handgun, then struck her several times with an object before fleeing.

The woman was hospitalized and police called her injuries “significant but non-life threatening.”

The armed man is described as Black, between 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, with broad shoulders and a muscular build.
