Breaking: Cal Fire orders immediate evacuation of Marsh Creek Road residents

An immediate evacuation has been ordered for residents along Marsh Creek Road between between Bragdon Way and Deer Valley Road, according to a Contra Costa Community Warning system alert at 9:27 p.m.

Evacuees can go to either the Safeway parking lot on 5431 Clayton Road in Clayton or the Brentwood Community Center at 35 Oak Street in Brentwood, East Contra Costa Fire Protection District officials said.

A complex of four vegetation fires in the Round Valley Regional Preserve area on the northeast slope of Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County has now burned about 400 acres, Cal Fire reported Sunday night.

There fires, believed to have been ignited by lightning strikes early Sunday, are about four miles southwest of Brentwood and south of March Creek Road, firefighters said.

Fire crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District and the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District have also helped fight these fires. Neither injuries nor damaged structures have been reported.
