A 47-year-old man died when his motorcycle collided with a big-rig on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in San Jose on Sunday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist, a San Jose resident whose name is not yet being released by the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office, was traveling south on Highway 880 north of the junction with U.S. Highway 101 shortly before 6 p.m. when he collided with the tractor-trailer, CHP officials said.
The motorcyclist was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, where he later died. The big-rig driver did not suffer injuries in the crash, according to the CHP.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the CHP’s San Jose-area office at (408) 467-5400.
