Judge sentences former coach to 15 years in prison in sexual abuse case

A former basketball coach and high school campus supervisor pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexual abuse of a minor under age 14 and was sentenced to 15 years in state prison.

Paul Fielder, 60, of Suisun City was arrested in July 2019 by Walnut Creek police and federal agents and has been in custody since then, according to a statement from the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.

Walnut Creek police investigated the case in collaboration with other local agencies and federal authorities. According to the statement, Fielder was suspected of abusing a minor for several years.

The statement provided no further details about the case.
