Update: I-580 eastbound lanes reopen after Richmond brush fire prompts closure


A large brush fire Friday afternoon closed down Interstate Highway 580 in both directions at Central Avenue in Richmond, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Eastbound lanes have since reopened with a residual delay in traffic, according to 511 SFBay at 2:20 p.m.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area near the Point Isabel shoreline until further notice.
