Crews contain Antioch brush fire at half-acre

A brush fire sparked Friday morning at a homeless camp in Antioch on Friday was extinguished within 30 minutes, fire officials said.

The blaze, reported about 10:15 a.m. in the area of 1300 W. Fourth St., was kept to a half-acre by firefighters and extinguished by 10:37 a.m., the Contra Costa Fire Protection District said on social media.

No information was released about explosions that were initially reported in connection with the fire.

Crews kept the blaze from threatening nearby structures. No information was released about any injuries stemming from the fire.

Firefighters remain on scene for mop up, fire officials said.
