A 50-year-old male was struck and killed by a motorist in the Bayview neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, San Francisco police reported.
Police responded just after noon to a traffic collision report involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Bayshore Boulevard and Jerrold Avenue. Officers found the victim in the roadway and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorist involved fled the scene, police said.
Officers were able to locate the vehicle involved in the collision on the 100 block of Barneveld Avenue.
While the Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Collision Unit was on the scene, they were told the driver had turned themselves in at the Bayview police station.
Police said they arrested and charged 21-year-old Nifo Ufau with a felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter and speeding.
